Is Hekate Evil?

In ancient Hellas we do not have evil Gods or Goddesses, because God can only be ultimately good or agathos. The God is the source of beauty and the source of all virtues. Under that prism, a God can never be evil. Any ancient Hellene God and Goddess can never be seen as evil, satanic, bad or anything similar. In the Platonic Theology we see that Gods provide the virtues, are completely good, they are never the cause of anything bad or evil for the beings, they are unchangeable regardings their essence  and they do not cause deceit, lies, illogical things. People who see them as such, do not follow the ancient tradition, but some kind of modern ideas, which are not aligned with those seen in the enviroment, in which those Gods and Goddesses were seen, invoked, walked on earth.

You may want to start building a relationship with the Goddess Hekate and you are afraid that She is going to eat you or ask some weird type of sacrifices. No. That's a story for an american movie. Hekate was feared in antiquity, as She was the Goddess of Witchcraft and Magick. Fear and respect are two interconnected worlds in the hellenic civilization when they are referred to God. Hellenes kept the worship of Hekate in their homes, the had shrines for Her and honored Her every night before the dark moon, at deipna celebration. References to Her are found in a variety of ancient texts, talismans, stones, curse tablets etc.

Theurgy and Philosophy are two different methods which lead to the union with God.
