Amadryads

The Town Siope

Northern of Athens, there is a river, Spercheios. Its length is 82 kilometers. The source of Spercheios is Tymphristos mountain. In the valley of Spercheios before 7000 b.C. a new town was made, the town of silence the Siope. At 6600 b.C. the city consisted of 50 houses, 2 temples, parks, shops along the streets, 2nd floors buildings etc. After 200 years, many more houses were built and a pyramid which was a scientific laboratory.

Spercheia

The main temple of Siope was the temple of Zeus and the second temple was the temple of Hera. Priests were teachers too. Their domains were philosophy, mathematics, poetry, music, architecture, physics.

At the sacred place of Siope existed the main temple, the place of rituals and the two buildings for the priesthood. In one of the two buildings 23 pristesses were lived, the amadryades.

In Siope there was a celebration, spercheia. The custom of maypole, which exists in Beltane Sabbat, was first shown in spercheia. Let's see what happened every day:
Day 1: prayings, and ritual offerings to Zeus, Hera, Demeter. Taurus were slaughtered and offered as an offering.
Day 2: prayings and odes (hymns) with all the citizens were recited
Day 3: prayings, hymns and dance of amadryades. They were dancing and singing naked, with just a small piece of fabric in ther genitals. They were holding multicolored fabrics and they formed shapes. The steps of their dances were different and well organized. They were holding hands, that's why they were called ama-dryads, ama means at once. They were well synchronized.

Amadryads

Amadryads were nymphs or just priestesses. Drys meand oak in ancient hellenic. Amadryads spent their life in the woods. They rarely talked with other people. The temple was in the woods. After their birth, a young oak was dedicated to each of them. They had all the responsibilities to take care of that tree. So, they talked to the tree, they billed the tree, they watered it, they develeoped a communication system so strong, that when a tree had an issue, the amadryad felt it. And when a human tryied to harm the tree, the amadryad was feeling the scene and she talked through the trea.

Those things are a little bit of strange nowadays, but telepathy was a normal thing in ancient times. In hellenic culture, respecting the trees, the animals, the nature was something to be expected. So, this sensitivity was ok and indicates a high level of civilization
